Lagu SMS — Privacy Policy

The short version

Lagu SMS collects nothing, shares nothing, and transmits nothing. The release app does not request the Android INTERNET permission, so the operating system itself prevents it from sending any data anywhere. You can verify this claim on your own device:

What the app does with your data

Lagu SMS is a default SMS app. To do its job it reads, stores and organises SMS messages on your device only:

• Messages are read from and written to Android's standard SMS store and a local database inside the app's private storage. Classification (OTP, banking, bills, offers, spam, etc.), scam detection, bill-reminder extraction and the spends ledger are all computed on the device by rules bundled inside the app. No message, in whole or in part, ever leaves the phone.
• Contacts are read only to display names next to phone numbers. Names are never copied out of the system contacts store, never persisted by the app, and never transmitted.
• Phone state is read only to detect dual-SIM configuration for the SIM picker.
• Notifications are generated locally on the device.

Data collection and sharing

Backups

You may create an encrypted backup from Settings. The backup is encrypted on the device with AES-256-GCM using a passphrase only you know, and is saved or shared only to a destination you explicitly choose (for example your own file manager or drive). The app never uploads backups anywhere on its own, and cannot — it has no network access.

Data retention and deletion

All app data lives on your device. Deleting a message in the app deletes it from the device. Optional auto-delete rules (e.g. OTPs after 24 hours) run locally. Uninstalling the app removes its database entirely; messages in the standard Android SMS store remain available to whatever SMS app you use next.

Children

The app is a general-purpose SMS client and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated text will ship inside the app and on this page. Given the app's architecture (no internet permission), no change can introduce data transmission without that being visible in the app's manifest.
