Lagu Chitra — Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions. For a full walkthrough of every feature, see the User Guide.
General
What is Lagu Chitra?
Lagu Chitra is a photo collage maker. You pick 2–25 photos, start from a layout that already fits your selection, adjust it with simple gestures, and export at full resolution — with no account, no upload, and no watermark.
Does Lagu Chitra put a watermark on my collage?
No. There is no watermark at any output size, on any collage, ever.
Do I need an account or sign-in?
No. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud service. Open the app and start.
Is Lagu Chitra free? Are there in-app purchases?
There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no advertising. Every feature is available immediately. Check the Play Store listing for current pricing.
Does it need the internet?
No. The Android release does not even request the Internet permission, so the app is technically incapable of sending your photos anywhere. It works exactly the same in aeroplane mode.
What does "Chitra" mean?
"Chitra" means picture or image. "Lagu" means light, simple, and quick — which is the whole point of the app.
Choosing photos
How many photos can I put in one collage?
Between 2 and 25.
Does the app get access to my whole photo library?
No. Selection uses the system photo picker, so the app only ever receives the specific photos you tap. It never asks for full library access.
Can I mix portrait, landscape, and square photos?
Yes. The suggested layouts and the "balance shapes" arrangement are designed exactly for mixed shapes.
Can I add or replace photos after starting a collage?
Yes, manage the photos in the collage from the Photos tab in the editor.
One of my photos will not load. Why?
If the photo lives in the cloud, your photo provider has to download it before the app can use it. Wait for the download to finish and select it again.
Does the app change my original photos?
No. Repositioning, zooming, and cropping affect only how a photo appears inside the collage. Your original files are never modified.
Layouts & arrangement
How does the app decide which layouts to show me?
Suggestions are tuned to how many photos you picked, so every option you see actually fits your selection.
What layout styles are available?
Balanced grid, six grid, feature, feature story, and free-form arrangements.
What does Shuffle do?
It reshuffles which photo lands in which slot, without changing the layout you picked.
What is the difference between Best, Equal, Hero, and Story?
They are arrangement priorities. Best balances shapes, Equal gives every photo the same importance, Hero features the first photo, and Story keeps the exact order you selected.
How do I swap two photos?
Press and hold one photo, then drag it onto the other.
Can I move or zoom a photo inside its slot?
Yes. Drag to reposition, pinch to zoom, and double-tap to reset it to the default position and zoom.
Can I undo a change I did not like?
Yes. Undo and redo cover every step — layout, swaps, zoom, spacing, and background.
Canvas & style
What canvas shapes can I choose?
Square, portrait, story, A4, and wallpaper ratios.
How do I stop my photos from being cropped?
Choose the No crop framing mode in the Frame tab — it keeps every photo whole, even if that leaves some space around it.
What does edge-to-edge framing do?
It runs photos right up to the canvas border, with no outer margin.
Can I change the background colour and the gaps between photos?
Yes, both are in the Style tab.
Can I make a phone wallpaper with it?
Yes, pick the wallpaper canvas ratio and export at HD or maximum size.
Export & quality
How large can I export?
Up to 4096 px on the longest edge. Social (around 1080 px) and HD (around 2048 px) sizes are also offered.
Does the number shown mean width or height?
It is the longest edge of the finished image. The exact dimensions depend on your canvas ratio.
Should I choose PNG or JPEG?
PNG is lossless and produces a larger file. JPEG is smaller with slight compression, which is usually better for sharing.
Why is the Maximum size greyed out on my phone?
Your device does not have enough memory headroom for a 4096 px export with that many photos. Use HD, or build the collage with fewer photos.
What is the source quality check?
Before exporting, the app compares your chosen output size against the real resolution of each source photo and tells you whether they can support it. You can review each source individually.
My exported collage looks soft. What went wrong?
A source photo probably had fewer pixels than the output size required, so it was upscaled. Export at a smaller size or replace that photo.
Will the export match what I saw on screen?
Yes. The preview on the export screen uses the same crop and framing as the exported image.
Drafts
Do I lose my work if I leave the app?
No. Drafts autosave as you edit, and the home screen offers to resume the draft when you come back.
How many drafts can I keep?
One at a time. Starting a new collage or choosing "Start fresh" replaces the saved draft.
Where are drafts stored?
In the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere.
How do I delete a draft?
Choose "Start fresh" on the home screen, or uninstall the app to remove all app data.
Privacy
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. All collage processing happens on your device, and the Android production app has no Internet permission at all.
Does Lagu Chitra collect any personal data?
None. No personal data is collected, and nothing is shared with Lagu Research Labs or any third party.
Are there analytics, ads, or crash-reporting SDKs?
None of them. There are no analytics, advertising, tracking, or remote crash-reporting SDKs in the app.
How can I verify the no-internet claim myself?
Check the installed package on your own device — no output means no internet permission:
adb shell dumpsys package com.laguresearchlabs.laguchitra | grep INTERNET
Where is the full privacy policy?
On the Lagu Chitra privacy page, and inside the app.
App & device
Does Lagu Chitra support dark mode?
Yes. Light and dark themes are both fully supported, and the app follows your device theme unless you pick one in Settings.
Will 25 photos slow the app down?
The editor works on bounded previews so it stays responsive, and only loads full resolution when it is time to export.
Does the theme affect my exported collage?
No. The theme changes only the app interface — your collage and its background colour export identically either way.
How do I get support?
